This service kit is designed for BMW vehicles equipped with the Getrag GS7D36BG or GS7D36SG dual-clutch transmission. Although BMW considers the transmission fluid to be "lifetime" fluid, we recommend periodic fluid changes, especially for vehicles that are driven aggressively. Compared to a basic service kit, this comprehensive version includes a new oil pump suction filter and sump pan. Since replacing the suction filter causes extra fluid loss during the service, the kit also includes additional transmission fluid to ensure a proper refill.

The HVAC heater control valve regulates the flow of hot coolant from the engine to the heater core, allowing the system to produce warm air for the cabin. In the extremes of summer heat and humidity fogged windows, this valve opens and closes based on the driver's temperature settings. A failed valve can cause fluctuating temperatures due to a non-regulated flow of hot coolant, resulting in fluctuating air temperature or coolant potentially leaking onto the cabin floor and around the engine compartment if the seal is damaged.

This hydraulic tensioner assembly maintains the tension of the serpentine belt to properly drive the supercharger, alternator, and A/C compressor. For all these to function correctly, an accessory drive belt tensioner applies the proper amount of tension on the belt to keep it from slipping and ensure the entire system is running smoothly. When an automatic tensioner is failing, you will notice an abnormal amount of bouncing or vibration, usually in conjunction with a bad pulley bearing. Hydraulic tensioners will fail similarly, by losing their ability to damp the vibrations in the system and begin to bounce.
