The BMW E30 was the second generation of the BMW 3-Series - produced in the U.S. from 1984-1992. The E30 includes models such as the 318i, 325i, 325e, 325ix (the first BMW to have AWD, and from 1988-1991, the first-ever BMW M3. When the E30 was facelifted in 1988, it got subtle changes such as a larger gas tank, larger rear brakes, body-colored bumpers, and "is" packages. The 318is and 325is were essentially "sports package" cars that received sportier bumpers, 14-inch basketweave wheels, sport seats, stiffer suspension components, and more. All non-M models were available with a 4-speed automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual transmission while the M3 only got the 5-speed - all sending power to the rear wheels other than the ix.
